Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE] · Effective immediately on publication
This Privacy Policy explains how SV Learning ("SV Learning", "we", "us", "our") — operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, e.g. "SV Learning Pvt. Ltd."], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], India — collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use svlearning.app and related services (the "Platform"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of our learners and their families, and we handle personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made thereunder.
Contents
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — name, email address, class/grade, and (optionally) date of birth and board, provided when a student or parent account is created.
- Parent linkage — for parent accounts, the child accounts a parent links to (via a secure invite code).
- Support & communications — messages, requests, and feedback you send us.
Information created as you use the Platform
- Learning activity — quests and games played, lesson progress, exam and mock-test attempts and scores, streaks, XP and leaderboard standing.
- Account state — trial status, credits, package/subscription status.
- Proctoring media (only for proctored exams) — where an assessment is expressly marked as proctored, webcam snapshots/short clips captured during that assessment, with notice on screen. This is used only for exam-integrity review and is subject to the retention limits below.
- Technical & log data — IP address, device and browser type, and basic diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the service.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment gateway, Razorpay. We do not collect or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or bank credentials. We receive a payment confirmation, an order/transaction reference, and the amount, which we retain for accounting and support.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Platform — deliver lessons, games, quests, exams and track progress.
- To operate accounts, the free trial, credits and packages, and to process payments.
- To show parents their linked child's progress, scores and activity.
- To keep the service safe and secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and maintain exam integrity.
- To respond to support requests and send essential service communications (e.g. account, verification, receipts).
- To understand and improve how the Platform is used, in aggregate.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Children's data & parental consent
The Platform is intended for students in Grades 6–12, many of whom are children under 18. Under the DPDP Act, processing a child's personal data requires verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, and prohibits tracking, behavioural monitoring, and targeted advertising directed at children.
- Where an account belongs to a minor, it should be created or approved by a parent/guardian, who accepts this Policy and our Terms on the child's behalf.
- A parent/guardian can link to a child account, review the child's data and activity, request corrections, and request deletion at any time via the contact details below.
- We collect only the data reasonably necessary to provide the learning service, and we do not condition access on the collection of data beyond that purpose.
If you believe a child's data has been provided to us without appropriate consent, contact our Grievance Officer and we will act promptly.
4. Our legal basis
We process personal data on the basis of your (or, for a minor, the parent/guardian's) consent, and to the extent necessary to perform the service you have requested, to meet our legal obligations, and for the legitimate purpose of keeping the Platform secure. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Your rights); withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out and may limit your ability to use the Platform.
5. How we share information
We share personal data only as follows:
- With service providers that operate the Platform on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations (see below).
- Between linked accounts — a parent linked to a child sees that child's learning data; a student's teacher/coordinator (where enrolled in a batch) may see that student's assessment activity for grading and support.
- For legal reasons — where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users or the Platform.
- In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, subject to this Policy continuing to apply.
6. Service providers
We rely on trusted providers, including: Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting/storage), Netlify (hosting and serverless functions), and Razorpay (payments). These providers process data under their own terms and security commitments and only as needed to deliver their service to us.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law. Account and learning data is retained while your account is active. Payment/accounting records are retained for the period required by Indian tax and accounting law. Proctoring media is retained only for the limited period needed for exam-integrity review and is then deleted. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, authentication, and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we work continually to strengthen our safeguards and will notify affected users and the relevant authority of a reportable personal-data breach as required by law.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you (or a parent/guardian on a child's behalf) may:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and request a summary of processing.
- Request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request erasure of your data and deletion of your account.
- Withdraw consent, and nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
- Register a grievance with our Grievance Officer, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We will verify your identity before acting.
10. Cookies & local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage that are strictly necessary to sign you in, keep your session, remember your preferences (such as light/dark theme), and operate the Platform. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent the Platform from working.
11. Where your data is processed
Our providers may process and store data on servers located in India and other countries. Where data is transferred outside India, we take steps consistent with applicable law to ensure it remains protected.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
